Ulaanbaatar the capitol city of Mongolia is said to be coldest capitol in the world. With the smoke and smog being the biggest problem of this harsh cold winter. Seems like there is nothing much to do here except if you go out side of the Ulaanbaatar city.

There are things you can do and enjoy Mongolian winter trip.

1 Ski resort
The Ski resort opens its pistes from mid-November for those wishing to run away from the city and get a blast of fresh air. With a lift and 3 ways to choose from You can get full day of fun within approximatively 30USD.

2 Dog Sledding in Mongolia
Within frozen river and snowy hills warm sunny sky just imagine yourself sledding. Isn`t it just one of your bucket list.

3 Horse riding in Terelj National Park
Terelj National Park is 70km just out side of the Ulaanbaatar. You can see Turtle rock, Visit Meditation temple and have a horse riding trip in the wonderful winter scenery in Terelj NP of Mongolia.

4 Eagle Festivals
There are few eagle festivals scheduled during the winter, the biggest being the Golden Eagle festival in Bayan Ulgii province in September. But do not worry you can enjoy this wonderful experience during the winter close to Ulaanbaatar city.

5 Khuvsgul Lake Ice Festival
The ice festival is held in every first weekend of the March at the frozen Khuvsgul lake. Khuvsgul lake freezes and displays wonderful clear ice crystals. Events include a gala opening ceremony on the ice, a folklore concert, shaman ceremony and many competitions featuring ice sculptures, ice ankle bone shooting, plus horse, reindeer sled, jeep and ice skating races. Winter sports include downhill and cross-country skiing, ice-fishing contests, a 100 kilometre ice-skating marathon and a 12 kilometer horse sleigh race.
